The garage

Twelve years of Gambian roads.

Master Mechanic Garage started in 2013 as one man, one toolbox and a borrowed pickup in Brikama. The first job was a Nissan Sunny that wouldn't start outside the market — the owner had been quoted for a new starter motor elsewhere. It was a corroded earth strap. That's still the kind of thing we look for first.

We work on what people here actually drive: Toyota Corollas and Hiluxes, Nissan Sunnys, Mercedes 190s that refuse to die, Peugeot 504 pickups, the occasional Kia or Hyundai brought in from Europe. Dust, heat and bad fuel are hard on cars, and most of what we fix comes back to one of those three.

We're a mobile outfit first. The garage at 78FR+CV5 is where the heavy jobs happen — engine rebuilds, gearbox work, anything that needs the car up on stands for a day or two. Everything else we'd rather come to you and save you the tow.
